Boun Khao Salak (ບຸນເຂົ້າສະຫຼາກ)

A meaningful Lao Buddhist tradition of making merit and giving offerings to monks. Families prepare food and gifts, often offered through a traditional lottery system, and dedicate the merit to loved ones and ancestors.

Boun Awk Pansa (ບຸນອອກພັນສາ) is a special Lao Buddhist celebration marking the end of the three-month Buddhist Lent, or Khao Phansa. It is a time for making merit, offering food and necessities to monks, listening to the Dhamma, and expressing gratitude and respect.

Families and communities come together to celebrate with almsgiving, candlelight ceremonies, traditional foods, music, and cultural activities. Boun Awk Pansa is also a time of reflection—celebrating spiritual growth, compassion, generosity, and the continuation of Buddhist traditions within the Lao community.

Boun Maha Kathina (ບຸນມະຫາກະຖິນ)

A special Lao Buddhist ceremony celebrating generosity and devotion to the Sangha. During Kathina, families and communities come together to offer robes, food, and essential items to monks as an expression of gratitude and support.

It is a beautiful celebration of merit-making, generosity, gratitude, and community.

Boun Phra That Luang (ບຸນພຣະທາດຫຼວງ)

One of Laos’ most important Buddhist festivals, honoring That Luang in Vientiane, a sacred symbol of Lao Buddhism and national heritage.

The celebration brings communities together for almsgiving, merit-making, traditional ceremonies, cultural performances, and the beautiful candlelight procession around That Luang.
